FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

GENERAL INFORMATION

When and where is the walk?

Pink on Parade takes place on October 26 at Ryan Bonaminio Park, 5000 Tequesquite Ave, Riverside, CA 92501. Registration begins at 7:30 AM. The Mt. Rubidoux walk will begin at 9 AM, and the Family Fun walk will begin at 9:15 AM.

Is there an age limit for participants? Can my children join me?

There is no minimum age requirement for Pink on Parade participants. Please feel free to bring your children! All children aged 10 and under get in for free!

Can my family members walk with me without registering?

No, everyone at Pink on Parade and the route must register and sign a waiver and release of liability as part of the registration process. This is crucial for the safety of the participants and allows The Pink Ribbon Place, a Riverside Community Health Foundation program, to measure the event's growth each year. Your registration helps us maintain safe and accurate results, so please encourage your family and friends to register for the event.

How far is the walk?

We have TWO routes for ONE cause: a beginner 1.8K Family Fun route around the park and an intermediate 5K Mt. Rubidoux route going up the mountain.

Do I have to walk?

Not at all! If you don’t want to walk either route, we have vendors, food and drink, and entertainment throughout the event for all to enjoy. For more information about the activities on the event day, check out the schedule on pinkonparade.org!

HEALTH AND SAFETY

What if I have trouble on the route?

If you need assistance, the route will be patrolled by volunteers who can provide it. There will also be a designated First Aid station and EMS personnel onsite.

What if I need water?

We understand the importance of staying hydrated, especially during physical activities. We will have hydration stations strategically placed throughout the route. Feel free to bring your own water bottle too!

What if I am feeling sick?

If you are not feeling well or exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 or have tested positive for COVID-19, please stay home to prevent the spread of illness.

Am I required to wear a mask?

You may choose to wear a mask or respirator that offers greater protection in certain situations, such as when you are with people at higher risk for severe illness or if you are at higher risk for severe illness. Disposable masks will be available upon request at registration and the first aid station.

What COVID-19 safety measures will be at the event?

Handwashing and hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the event. Masks will also be available upon request at the registration and first aid stations. According to the CDC, for the best protection, everyone 6 months and older is recommended to stay up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines, which includes getting boosters if eligible.

If I can’t attend, can I get my registration fee refunded?

The money committed through registration fees will offset the event cost and, therefore, is non-refundable. If you paid for merchandise but cannot attend, you can pick up your merchandise anytime after the event by contacting development@rchf.org. If you can’t attend, please consider supporting Pink on Parade by donating.

TEAMS

Can I start a team?

Yes, you can, and we hope that you will! You can form your own team or check to see if you can join an existing team by going to www.pinkonparade.org. You will first need to register yourself, and under the “donate” section of the registration process, select “create a team.” Creating a team builds camaraderie and naturally creates team building and spirit within companies. It is a fun way for friends and families to come together and honor or support someone who has been touched by breast cancer.

Is there a minimum fundraising goal?

No, we encourage Pink on Parade participants and our teams to set a self-imposed fundraising goal - we do not place a goal for you.

What are Team Prizes, and how do we win?

We want to encourage you to build amazing and supportive teams, so we are giving away a few prizes to the following categories:

  • Team that Raises the Most Dollars - This prize goes to the team that collectively raises the most dollars for the event! As a Team Captain, your role is to rally supporters and encourage them to fundraise on their own. All dollars that they raise go toward your Team total! That means if you have 10 team members and each member raises $100, you will have a team total of $1000! Totals will be tallied up once the walk begins, so donations received after the walk will not be counted towards the prize but are still welcomed.
  • Most Spirited Team - The day of the event is about having fun and lots of spirit. Sport your Pink in any way possible. Be creative, cheer your team, and you could win the most spirited prize!

Want to increase your odds of winning?  Encourage your team to share their fundraising pages and donate online at www.pinkonparade.org!

How are Team Prize Winners chosen?

We understand that being a Team Captain requires dedication, so we strive to be as fair as possible. All Team Winners will be announced during the closing ceremony.

  • Team that Raises the Most Dollars—Totals will be tallied up once the walk begins, so all donations must be received by the event day to be counted toward this prize. Donations received after the walk will not be counted toward this prize, although they are still welcomed!
  •  Most Spirited Team – Our event committee will choose the winner of this prize on the day of the event.
I have an awesome team! How can I get my team highlighted?

Now that’s the spirit! We want to share with everyone the amazing things you are doing to help raise awareness and funds for Pink on Parade! Are you and your team doing a fun fundraiser? Do you guys have an awesome contest going around in the office? Tell us all about it by submitting your story to marketing@rchf.org with the name of your Team and Captain! Don’t forget to tag us on social media @thepinkribbonplace!

What is Team Tailgate?

Teams that raise $1000 or more will be placed in our Team Tailgate area! You and your team can bypass the check-in lines and have your own 10x10 space with a tent, a table, and chairs to party throughout the event! For more information about Team Tailgate, the deadline, and other fundraising benefits, check out our website, www.pinkonparade.org.

VOLUNTEERS

How do I register as a volunteer, and how much does it cost?

Registering as a volunteer is FREE! Visit our website at pinkonparade.org and click the “volunteer” link in the top menu. For more information on volunteering, please email volunteer@rchf.org.

What do volunteers do?

Your job will vary depending on how much time you can commit to the walk. The Pink Ribbon Place will try to place volunteers in areas that interest them, but these volunteer positions are not guaranteed. Volunteers will be placed in age-appropriate positions where there is a need. Volunteers cover areas wherever support people are needed the most. Many volunteers are also needed in the days leading up to the event to support staff in various roles.

What is the difference between a volunteer and a walk participant?

A volunteer will support Pink on Parade and event staff in the days leading up to the event, the day of the event, and post-event. Volunteers do not walk in the event but rather support the walkers in many ways such as helping them with registration, on the route at water stations, and many other areas of Pink on Parade. Volunteers are essential to making the day of the event run smoothly. Walk Participants are strictly there to participate in the walk. However, Participants and Volunteers can participate in the festivities at the end of the walk.

What is volunteer training?

We are looking for leads to attend training before the walk day for those volunteers who are capable and available. Volunteers will learn the basic process of their area and lead other volunteers for a seamless walk experience. Training dates will be posted on our website at www.pinkonparade.org. Please register as a volunteer on our website to receive emails on upcoming training dates and other important volunteer information.

How do I become a Sponsor?

If you or someone you know would like to become a sponsor, please email sponsor@rchf.org to learn more about sponsorship opportunities.

Can my donors get their money back if I can’t attend Pink on Parade?

All donations are non-refundable. The money you’ve raised will work in our community by supporting those who have been impacted by breast cancer. If you can’t walk, please consider supporting Pink on Parade by donating or volunteering.

Do matching gifts count toward my fundraising?

Yes! They absolutely do! Matching gifts are a great way to add dollars to your fundraising efforts if the matching gift from your place of business is received by The Pink Ribbon Place with your full name designated as the recipient of the matching gift. Matching gift amounts will only be credited to your account once the check has been received from your company, which in some cases can take quite a bit of time. Please include the walker’s name and participant team on your company matching gift form. Matching gift forms and/or checks from the company should be completed and sent to:

The Pink Ribbon Place

c/o Riverside Community Health Foundation

4275 Lemon Street

Riverside, CA 92501

How long does it take for donations to be posted?

Credit card donations made via the RunSignUp website are posted immediately, and a confirmation email to the donor is generated. Donations sent by check via US postal mail will be posted within three weeks of their mailing date if all the instructions were followed correctly. Any missing information or illegible print will delay the process.
